You can have a co-op. Or you can make a difference. Or you can work as a Manufacturing Engineering Co-Op at Herman Miller and do both.
 
 
About this Opportunity
As a Manufacturing Engineering Co-Op, you will have the opportunity to work on and own projects within the manufacturing process. You will encounter many of the different areas Manufacturing Engineers cover at Herman Miller as you become an integral part of the Manufacturing Engineering Team.
 
Co-Ops at Herman Miller participate in three work rotations (May 2018 – August 2018, January 2019 – April 2019, and September 2019 – December 2019). Your first rotation will take place during our Summer Intern Program, which includes housing options if your permanent address is not local to your assigned work location. You will be responsible for providing housing for your second and third rotations.

You'll have opportunities to speak up, solve problems, lead others, and be an owner every day as you...
  • Set up and take charge of manufacturing project work.
  • Work on a new product launch.
  • Provide ongoing production support.
  • Conduct machine design review.
  • Problem-solve production line issues.
  • Work with plant layout updates, quality costs, and safety issues.
  • Work with the manufacturing processes related to seating, case goods, and office system operations at Herman Miller.
  • Participate on a cross-functional team to complete an intern project.
  • Attain on-the-job work experience aligned with your career objectives.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as requested to achieve business objectives.

You might be just who we’re looking for if you are...
  • A self-starter and able to work independently.
  • Creative with a strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Able to conduct financial analyses, including cost estimation and cost justification.
  • Able to do database mining (preferred).
  • Able to work with other people to complete projects.
  • Experienced with the Microsoft Office suite.
  • Experienced with AutoCAD or SolidWorks (preferred, but not required).
  • Enrolled and pursuing a 4-year Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited college or university. You must have a cumulative GPA of at least a 3.0 to qualify for consideration in the Intern Program.
  • Satisfactorily finished with the basic coursework in your chosen degree program.
  • In favorable academic standing within your current academic program or major.
  • Authorized to work in the United States.
  • Able to perform all essential job functions of the position with or without accommodations.
