About this Opportunity
As an Account Development Manager working at Geiger, you'll profitably deliver Geiger and Herman Miller Collection solutions to assigned accounts, supporting corporate sales and distribution strategies. You will penetrate competitively held and targeted accounts that are not current Geiger/Herman Miller Collection customers and sell Geiger/Herman Miller Collection products and services to the established customer base to protect existing business and increase market share. You'll also directly support the A D corporate strategy in designated markets.

  • Build account share within assigned target accounts that are existing Geiger/Herman Miller Collection clients, penetrating all subsidiaries, divisions, and affiliates of those customers.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with the A D community if there is no A D Representative position in the market.
  • Ensure that any product application offered to the client is within the capability of the product's performance and that the product will perform when installed, in conjunction with the customer's company planners.
  • Make the initial key contact with customer to develop, cultivate, and establish productive, collaborative relationships with customer decision-makers, influencing them by using consultative selling skills to discover, diagnose, and solidify their needs and to propose and deliver world-class solutions.
  • Manage major projects, including the formulation of a purchase strategy and the coordination of necessary resources.
  • Negotiate and establish contractual agreements with clients when appropriate.
  • Penetrate specific target accounts. You will establish, communicate, and implement account strategies/action plans to achieve sales, service volume, and margin targets for new business development. You'll also partner with dealers.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as requested to achieve business objectives.
  • Proactively develop and maintain a personal network of Geiger/Herman Miller Collection "can do" allies to provide sales support to demonstrate design capabilities, schedule client trips, conduct product presentations, and develop a facility strategy to achieve desired results

You might be just who we’re looking for if you have...

  • A Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field. An equivalent level of experience will also be considered.
  • Four to six years of successful contract or capital goods selling experience.
  • A high level of presentation and consultative selling skills with a strong customer focus.
  • The ability to present a professional image and gain a high level of confidence from a large number of customers.
  • The ability to be an assertive, self-confident self-starter and the ability to work and contribute in a team environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills, including excellent interpersonal skills with a strong emphasis on listening.
  • A sense of urgency, a high level of energy and tenacity, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment while managing multiple accounts.
  • A willingness to develop both short- and long-term business as well as experience in penetrating and selling to long-term, competitively held accounts.
  • A desire and ability to learn (intentional learner), coupled with strong organizational skills.
  • A thorough knowledge of all Geiger/Herman Miller Collection products and service offerings. You'll also need a high level of literacy of Geiger/Herman Miller's Collection business, history, and culture.
  • Demonstrated prospecting, qualifying, networking, problem-solving, and negotiation skills.
  • A demonstrated high standard of performance and a results-oriented work style (i.e., holding yourself accountable for results).
  • The ability to actively seek opportunities, calculate risk, and commit to action.
  • A demonstrated ability to effectively use the office automation, communication, software, and tools currently being used in the Herman Miller office environment
  • A demonstrated high level of integrity and business ethics.
  • The ability to perform all essential job functions of the position with or without accommodations.
