3250 KVVU The Assignment Desk Manage supervises daily operation of the assignment desk. Develop and implement strategies for effective, efficient and smooth operation of the assignment desk. Build the daily agenda for news coverage and amend and rearrange throughout the day as developments dictate. Present daily agenda at morning and afternoon editorial meetings. Gather meaningful news information from available sources for newscasts. Work closely with other news managers and producers in executing daily and future story coverage. Schedule and supervise assignment editors to ensure strategic coverage goals and objectives are met. Ensure follow-up stories and assignments are pursued. College/University degree in broadcast journalism or other related field. A minimum of three years experience on a TV news assignment desk preferred. Working knowledge of newsroom computers, the Internet and computer-assisted reporting.

Education:

College Degree

Experience:

3-5 years assignment editor experience

Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Previous management experience is preferred
