**Job Summary**

AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Bridge Inspection Team Leader for immediate employment in the Baltimore, MD office.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

+ Performing condition inspections of highway bridges, culverts, tunnels and ancillary structures in a variety of environments including confined spaces, on and over water, and at significant heights. Training and personal protection equipment will be provided as required

+ Working under the supervision of a project manager or senior-level team member as appropriate based on task

+ Mentoring junior level inspection personnel in the field on the purpose and processes of inspections and inspection techniques

+ Performing special or emergency inspections, on-call investigations and detailed studies of structures

+ Performing assignments related to the design, analysis, and rehabilitation of highway bridges, tunnels, ancillary structures, facilities and mixed-use structures

+ Preparing or reviewing engineering related calculations and developing drawings, specifications, and quantities and cost estimates

+ Staying current on the latest trends, training, technologies, and equipment as they pertain to structural inspections

**Minimum Requirements**

+ Bachelor’s Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering

+ 5+ years of relevant experience to include at least 3 years in a team leader role

+ Registered Professional Engineer (PE) in the State of Maryland or ability to become one through reciprocity

+ National Bridge Inspection Standards (NBIS) qualified Team Leader having successfully completed the National Highway Institute’s (NHI) Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges course (FHWA-NHI-130055) and Fracture Critical Inspection Techniques for Steel Bridges course (FHWA-NHI-130078)

+ Ability to stand, walk, handle and climb ladders, swim, and operate access equipment (training provided) and wear and breathe through a respirator as required for full work shifts

+ Ability and willingness to perform assignments outdoors in a variety of weather conditions

+ Ability to lift 50 lbs., repetitively during a work shift

+ Ability to wear fall protection gear and other personal protective equipment while climbing during a work shift

+ Ability to row or paddle a small boat while maneuvering on water beneath a structure

+ Strong verbal and written communication skills

+ Proficient in the use of industry standard computer software for the position including typical office applications (Word, Excel, etc.)

+ Experience with a wide variety of bridge structures and materials and an advanced understanding of engineering and construction means and methods as they pertain to structures

+ Attention to detail and quality, particularly for the creation of new and revision of existing inspection reports

+ Forward thinking and motivated

**Preferred Qualifications**

+ Experience inspecting complex bridges including suspension and cable stayed, trusses, cantilever suspension spans, curved and linear concrete and steel box girders, moveable,steel frames and segmental bridges

+ Successful completion of the following NHI courses: FHWA-NHI-130087, FHWA-NHI-130091, and FHWA-NHI-131110

+ Experience working for local agencies such as the Maryland State Highway Administration (SHA) and Maryland Transportation Authority (MDTA)

+ Experience working with the Authority Structures Inspection & Repair (ASIR) software

+ Experience working with the Bentley “Inspecttech” Structural Asset Management (SAM) software

+ Relevant experience utilizing applicable structural design software packages (LARS, MDX, STAAD, Merlin DASH, LEAP-Bridge, etc.) and drafting and modeling applications (MicroStation, AutoCad etc.)
