Role Purpose

This role will be a member of the Creative Content Protection team, which comprises Legal, Public Policy, and Technology professionals and has the mission of protecting NBCUniversal films, television programs, and other creative content against content theft. The role will serve as a key legal advisor to the Creative Content Protection technical operations team and also provide legal support and guidance for industry initiatives and enforcement actions. This role will report to the Vice President, Creative Content Protection.


+ Manage a broad range of day-to-day legal issues in connection with NBCUniversal’s operational enforcement of its copyrights throughout the world.

+ Providing advice and counsel to the Creative Content Protection team operations team on the development and management of databases of NBCUniversal copyright enforcement rights.

+ Provide guidelines for the day-to-day enforcement of NBCUniversal’s copyrights, including addressing requests from business units and licensees for enforcement action, reviewing potential fair use issues, reviewing disputes from end users, responding to DMCA counter-notices, and sending C&D notices.

+ Provide advice and counsel relating to the claiming of user-generated copies of NBCUniversal content on social media platforms.

+ Provide support for industry content protection legal actions including litigation, administrative actions, and criminal prosecutions.

+ Provide support for voluntary industry initiatives such as working with the advertising and payment processing industries to adopt and implement voluntary best practices addressing commercial scale copyright infringement.

+ Work closely with members of NBCUniversal’s Public Policy/Government Relations team and Communications team as well as NBCUniversal’s various business units including Film, TV, International, and Sports.


Basic Qualifications

+ JD and member of the California bar in good standing.

+ Minimum 3 years of experience as a practicing attorney with experience in intellectual property matters.Eligibility Requirements
