Role Purpose

The purpose of this role is to partner with members of the MSI team to assist in the continued development of NBCU’s corporate forecasting capabilities across both our Linear (TV) and Digital footprints. The role will involve helping to administer and manage our forecasting production system, including validation of new models / features to be used, monitoring quality of forecast model performance, and helping to integrate forecasts into on-going reporting platforms. The role will also involve assisting the senior research team in designing, specifying and refining forecast models and subsequent landing of those models into our production environment.


+ Participates as a team member in forecast model development activities

+ Performs periodic updating of forecasts and preparation of forecast results for business partners

+ Monitors forecast model accuracy and identifies corrective actions when needed, prior to results distribution.

+ Collaborates with Business partners to proactively identify, manage and determine assignable causes to unexpectedly large forecast errors

+ Manages testing and validation of new features / models to be placed in production (comparing to established models in the Dev environment

+ Participates as part of the MSI team in ad hoc data science, research and modeling activities


Basic Qualifications

+ Undergraduate or graduate degree in technical major, e.g., computer engineering, mathematics, physics, mathematical statistics, or other quantitative fields

+ Working knowledge of statistical principles and its applications for forecasting and data analysis

+ Understanding of the differences between inferential and predictive models and experience applying methods in both areas

+ Working knowledge of one of the following programming languages: R, Python, SAS, Julia, Java, Scala or similar

+ Ability to multi-task, accept changes in priorities quickly and work with a sense of urgency

+ Ability to work at a high level of detail, accuracy and accountability

+ Proactive / well organized in execution, process development and process improvement

+ Familiarity with relational databases and SQL

+ Experience with data visualization techniques and concepts

+ Team playerEligibility Requirements

**Desired Characteristics**

+ High degree of professionalism in communication / collaboration with team, business partners and management

+ Knowledge of statistical software packages (SAS, SAS Forecast Server, R etc.)

+ Inquisitive / natural curiosity

+ Experience with television ratings and digital measurement tools (Nielsen, Rentrak, comScore, Omniture, etc.)

+ Proficiency in MS Office suite (Powerpoint, Word, Excel, Access)

+ Ease in picking up new data / analytic tools
