Description

We are looking for an individual thirsty for the opportunity to be part of our Strategy team to act in a Design Strategy capacity for our global client portfolio. Our clients are dynamic, industry-leading organizations driving innovation in the workplace through rigorous research, future forecasting in how work will transform, and elevation of culture, experience, and Wellbeing in their buildings and spaces. The role offers a unique opportunity to partner with clients in strategic planning, guide the creative discourse, and elevate the quality of the resulting workspaces.

As a Design Strategist, you will work both as part of the Gensler team and in direct support of our clients to drive the creation of progressive workplaces, including facilitation of design research, synthesis, shaping design concepts, providing guidance on their development, and supporting thoughtful execution and delivery of workplace projects. The work environment includes spending time with clients and with your Gensler team. The position requires a creative thinker who enjoys developing robust project processes to solve client problems as well as developing relationships. Primary responsibilities include:

  • Collect qualitative data and qualitative feedback from end users
  • Synthesis of information and the impact on space supply and occupancy demand data, business goals, and organizational culture
  • Develop creative design concepts that illustrate options of how the organization can be supported
  • Create powerful ways to visualize and express the tradeoffs associated with various concept and planning scenarios
  • Assist in the information design of data and findings for client reports and presentations
  • Interface with Gensler design studios to ensure the seamless transition of design strategy to design implementation
  • Develop proposals, including scope and compensation
  • Manage projects, including directing the work of Junior colleagues with direction from Senior staff
  • Grow existing client relationships
  • Collaborate with client’s other third party service providers including real estate brokers, consultants, project managers, etc.

To meet these goals for the role, qualifications for a successful applicant include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Interior Design, or related field with workplace programming and space planning experience REQUIRED
  • 5-10 years of relevant workplace design experience POST GRADUATION
  • Proven experience in the quantitative and qualitative aspects of programming, space planning, design, occupancy, and workplace performance
  • Experience on design teams, including the ability to create and communicate clear project objectives and requirements
  • Ability to create positive relationships with outside design firms and corporate client and stakeholders
  • Experience facilitating meetings with diverse stakeholders to reach consensus
  • Strong knowledge of the design process, including furniture systems and specifications, color, and materials selection
  • Strong leadership, communication, and relationship management skills
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to multi-task, and communicate design ideas
  • Comfortable with technology for virtual collaboration and mobile work
