**Job Summary**

AECOM has an opportunity for a Field Technician in our Burnaby office. The role will predominantly consist of implementation of data collection programs (field work). Project work includes field work to support: environmental impact assessments, site assessment and remediation commercial/industrial properties, and construction monitoring. This is an opportunity to gain experience conducting field work across a number of diverse applications and candidates will be cross-trained.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

+ Participation in a team environment, working closely with Project Managers, and co-workers to complete work programs

+ Collection of background information, participation in field data collection programs, and preparation of reports

+ Perform field work safely and as directed, including sampling for: water quality, soil, groundwater sampling, soil vapour sampling, and site reconnaissance

+ Support field work for biophysical studies including: aquatics, fisheries, invasive species, wetlands and other biophysical surveys

+ Collection, handling and shipment of samples of various environmental media

+ Ensure equipment is maintained and calibrated to meet operational and field requirements

+ Compile field and analytical data

+ Preparation of preparation of environmental monitoring reports and technical reports

**Minimum Requirements**

+ Degree or technical diploma in an environmental science, engineering, hydrogeology or geology

+ Must be willing to work in variable climatic conditions and be willing to travel to remote locations and work away from home

+ Professional status or eligibility for professional status with a professional organization

+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong attention to detail and accuracy are essential

+ Strong computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office

+ Knowledge of Health & Safety requirements unique working

+ Willingness and ability to travel and conduct fieldwork

+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills

+ Strong attention to detail and accuracy

+ Valid class 5 driver's license

**Preferred Qualifications**

+ 1+ year of experience in conducting field work either in the areas of biophysical surveys or contaminated site assessment

+ Knowledge of current federal and provincial environmental acts and regulations, considered an asset

+ Proficiency with database management and interpretation

+ Additional field safety training is preferred (e.g., First Aid, UTV/ATV, electrofishing)
