About this Opportunity
As a Human Resources Associate Generalist working at Nemschoff, you'll initiate, implement, and apply Human Resources (HR) processes, policies, and practices in a manner that positively impacts business activities. You will provide direct HR support (People Services Consultant role) for an assigned client group in the areas of pay administration, talent management, performance management, leadership and employee development, talent acquisition, organizational change, employee relations, and communication.

  • Act in an advisory role to business management on employee issues and policy interpretation and implementation. You will quickly and accurately respond to or seek answers to employee questions and concerns regarding issues of workplace policies, compensation, benefits, development, etc.
  • Assist the Talent Acquisition Team in the selection and hiring of individuals who best meet the talent requirements of the business
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives which enhance the quality and productivity of direct operational and HR processes of the business.
  • Investigate and document issues of harassment, discrimination, workplace violence, etc., and recommend/ facilitate corrective actions.
  • Assist the HR Consultant - Labor Relations in the facilitation of a positive union/company labor relationship.
  • Coordinate and deliver learning and development activities as required, building competence and improving performance in the workplace.
  • Coordinate onboarding and welcome packages for both new hires and temporary employees, which includes, orientation, new hire paperwork, and open shop communication.
  • Identify and implement proactive measures to achieve workforce effectiveness.
  • Back up the HR Consultant – Labor Relations as needed.
  • Participate in and/or manage cross-functional teams or projects related to HR policy, practice, or programs.
  • Perform other administrative duties to support HR or other work functions.
  • Prepare monthly HR metric reporting under the direction of the HR Manager.
  • Survey and test the satisfaction, commitment, and retention of employees. You will identify leverage opportunities and develop appropriate action plans.
  • Understand and adhere to our policy and objectives for, and commitment to, quality.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as requested to achieve business objectives.

You might be just who we're looking for if you have...

  • A Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Labor Relations, Business, or a related field.
  • Two to four years of experience in HR (preferred). Previous work experience in a unionized manufacturing setting is preferred.
  • A PHR - SHRM Certification (preferred).
  • A Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) Certification.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in employment law, recruiting, benefits and compensation, employee development, change management activities, and the HR regulatory/statutory environment.
  • A demonstrated understanding of HR principles and the ability to handle sensitive and confidential HR issues and information.
  • An attention to detail, excellent organizational and communication skills, and the ability to multi-task.
  • Proven competency in the following areas: coaching/consultation, communication, conflict management, problem-solving, customer service, initiative, follow-up, and planning and organizing work.
  • A demonstrated ability to effectively use the office automation, communication, software, and tools currently being used in the Herman Miller and Nemschoff office environments.
  • Successful professional experience concerning issues of integrity and trust with a demonstrated ability to maintain high levels of confidentiality.
  • The ability to perform all essential job functions of the position with or without accommodations.
