**Job Summary**

AECOM is actively seeking a highly talented and motivated Scientist III, Biology for immediate employment in the Williamsport, PA office.

The candidate will be able to demonstrate wetland/botanical and wildlife field experience in PA and would complement our talented staff, expand our capabilities, and work within our successful interdisciplinary wetland, wildlife, botanical and restoration teams.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

+ Ability to coordinate and self-direct assigned field investigation tasks and ability to serve as a field lead capable of organizing and conducting wetland delineations in PA

+ Collecting and analyzing biological data to determine environmental effects of present and potential use of land and water resources, record data, and interact with public, state and federal representatives regarding investigation results

+ May specialize in research centering on particular plants and animals and/or the ecology of these organisms

+ Conducting field and office activities, protocol-level field surveys, technical report writing as well as other technical tasks

+ Preparing and performing quality control of high-quality documents and other technical reports for local and regional projects

+ Processing data collection and analysis, with the use of Microsoft Office

**Minimum Requirements**

+ Bachelor's degree in ecology, biology, botany, environmental science or other closely related discipline

+ 5+ years of experience

+ Academic or work experience should include experience in PA, with a focus on local flora and fauna ecology

+ Ability to interpret data and convey complex thoughts and ideas in clear, concise written form

+ Knowledge and demonstrated experience working with laws, regulations and permitting requirements related to the Federal Clean Water Act 401 certification and 404 permitting, ESA Section 7, etc. as they relate to biological resource impacts/conservation

+ Proficiency with processing and interpreting data for evaluating biological communities (aquatic and terrestrial)

+ Strong technical writing skills and experience leading and overseeing jurisdictional delineation reports and preparing permit application packages

+ Ability to work as part of a team work, possesses strong communication skills both verbally and in writing, and has the ability and desire to interact with clients and agency representatives

+ Ability to delineate wetlands independently including and ability to lead a field crew

+ Familiar with commonly accepted field data collection methodologies

+ A detailed understanding of the ACOE 1987 manual and regional supplements

+ Excellent verbal communication and writing skills and the desire to assist AECOM in the continued growth of the natural resources department

+ Ability and willingness to travel and work long hours in the field and conduct field work outdoors year-round

+ Flexibility to serve as a cross-disciplinary resource to best meet the needs of AECOM and its clients

**Preferred Qualifications**

+ Relevant professional work experience within the oil and gas industry a plus

+ Experience in ecosystem assessments and environmental permitting (Federal, State, etc.)

+ General understanding of how to operate Geographic Information Systems (GIS)

+ General understanding of and past experience with threatened and endangered species surveys

+ Experience operating a handheld GPS unit
