Job Duties

+ Lead the development of all marketing communications and campaigns for the NBC News brands – NBC Nightly News, TODAY, Sunday TODAY, Meet the Press, Dateline, Megyn Kelly TODAY, and Sunday Night with Megyn Kelly.

+ Partner with internal Brand Marketing and Media/Strategy teams to lead the translation of consumer insights into innovative creative solutions. Approach creative problem-solving with a multiplatform mindset.

+ Lead and inspire the creative output of approximately 10 writer/producers (Writers Guild of America) with day-to-day delivery of tactical/topical tune-in promos; create an environment where creativity can flourish; motivate NBC News creative team to strive to contribute at the highest possible level; nurture conceptual creative ideas and help to make them better; instill a sense of pride, passion, and collaboration within NBC News Marketing’s Creative group.

+ Foster the development of first class creative talent.

+ Work with Head of Production on a daily basis assigning producer/editor teams to ensure adequate staffing of upcoming projects.

+ Work with the Creative Director of Art/Graphics to create inspired and unique graphics packages for each show’s marketing communications.

+ Manage the team efficiently to ensure assigned projects are delivered on time.

+ Be able to present ideas to executive leadership in a clear, articulate and engaging manner.

+ Push the creative bounds of traditional promo-type thinking while still adhering to brand guidelines.



+ At least 12 years of creative director-level experience with an advertising or design agency, or as a writer/producer for a national broadcast or cable network.

+ Must have a portfolio that demonstrates strategic conceptual thinking on well-known brands, including significant amount of television commercial/promo work. Track record of creating and leading the development of work that provokes thought and an emotional response. If coming from a TV network, demonstrated ability to go beyond the traditional promo.

+ Experience leading and nurturing (rather than imposing) great creative outcomes.

**Desired Characteristics**

+ Respect for the creative process.

+ Must have experience translating creative ideas into fully produced creative assets including demonstrating leadership and collaboration on commercial shoots.

+ Must be adaptive and able to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment; retain high creative standards without being overly precious with the work.

+ An art director/design/artist background is preferred.Knowledge of and passion for NBC News brands and journalism; fluent in current events, popular culture, and politics.
