NBC News Digital is seeking an experienced and talented senior producer (with fierce selfie skills) to help lead a new, first in its class, vertical video social news project. This isn’t your boss’s control room job. We’re looking for journalists with impeccable news chops and judgment, with a native understanding of social platforms and their core audiences. This senior producer has a mobile-first mind, and understands how to tell an editorially sound and beautiful story. This person not only knows how to produce content that will change how a new generation consumes news, but can lead and coach a team of energetic producers, editors and animators to do the same.

Job Duties

+ Work with the executive producer to build rundowns and assign stories to producers.

+ Provide essential news judgment and make editorial calls on developing stories and breaking news.

+ Oversee a team of producers, editors, and animators, reviewing scripts and video to craft mobile-first and social-first packages and stories.

+ Coordinate with the assignment desk and other platforms to leverage NBC's existing talent and resources.

+ Coach and mentor team members.


Basic Qualifications

+ At least six years experience in a major news organization, preferably as a tape producer or leadership role

+ Proven news judgment, high ethical standards and wonderful interpersonal skills

+ An undergraduate degree journalism, masters preferred

+ A deep understanding of mobile social platforms, their core user bases, and user consumption habits

+ Lots of personal experience making social content (yes, your own stories count)

+ Experience with analytics and data-driven decision makingAdditional Job Requirements
