About this Opportunity
As a Senior Robotics/Automation Engineer, you'll apply engineering theories and concepts to assignments in support of business objectives under minimal supervision, and provide engineering leadership and expertise. You will conduct feasibility studies, determine manpower and cost estimates, and develop engineering criteria. You'll perform analyses to develop design options or recommendations for structures, systems, and components. You'll also apply originality, ingenuity, and knowledge of other disciplines in solving complex problems. Emphasis in your work will be placed on your team participation, ability to plan, and ability to achieve results on assigned projects.

  • Collaborate and work alongside the Internal Design & Build Group to develop, integrate, and specify new robotic processes.
  • Develop robotic/flexible automation equipment specifications, operating instructions, programming, and maintenance procedures.
  • Identify automation opportunities within existing production processes and provide a business proposal for review to evaluate projects.
  • Design and implement robotic/flexible automation solutions to improve safety, productivity, and quality, and to reduce cost.
  • Provide robot/flexible automation integration support to Engineering for new and existing production processes.
  • Remain current on cutting edge robotics and automation technologies.
  • Provide training and guidance to Operations, Engineering, and Maintenance.
  • Provide daily technical support for Production and Maintenance activities to ensure maximum reliability.
  • Document robot key performance indicators (KPI) and test procedures and monitor results.
  • Actively participate in the development of Engineering and Quality processes and recommend process improvements.
  • Apply learned engineering skills to your work assignments.
  • Apply problem-solving skills and execute solutions to difficult problems independently.
  • Apply supply chain cost, value stream capabilities, and economic principles.
  • Coach engineering tasks and skills to others.
  • Define and complete engineering tasks with minimal oversight of leadership.
  • Identify opportunities for improvements to products and processes.
  • Independently develop and apply engineering approaches to projects and assignments.
  • Present work output in a clear and concise manner.
  • Provide proposal and planning of projects to the budget owner using the appropriate request process.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as requested to achieve business objectives.

You might be just who we’re looking for if you have...

  • A Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited program.
  • Four to seven years of professional engineering experience with proven competency in achieving results.
  • Five or more years of hands-on experience in the integration and deployment of automation/robotic systems in manufacturing.
  • PLC Programming and Robotic Programming experience.
  • Proficient CAD skills.
  • Project management experience (may be essential for some assignments). Process Engineer is preferred for some assignments.
  • Excellent project management skills.
  • Knowledge in Lean principles and their application.
  • Experience in manufacturing processes, including, but not limited to: machine fabrication, finishing, assembly, and material handling.
  • The ability to assess process concepts and determine where continuous improvement opportunities exist.
  • The ability to communicate effectively with people at various levels, including Production, Engineering, and Management, as well as the ability to work well with and develop a partnering relationship with other team members.
  • Knowledge in the use of common office automation, communication, software, tools, Herman Miller mainframe applications, and engineering-related software.
  • Problem-solving skills and the ability to apply engineering expertise to solving problems.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, follow-up skills, and the ability to lead without direct authority.
  • The ability to assess priorities and determine a course of action with minimal day-to-day supervision and the ability to anticipate, recognize, and respond effectively to changes which affect project plans.
  • An overall business sense and an understanding of how decisions impact business results.
  • The ability to perform all essential job functions of the position with or without accommodations.
