**Responsibilities**

Role Purpose

Reporting to the Vice President, Creative Content Protection, the Senior Director, Business Analytics & Research is tasked with leading a team performing research, data analytics, and strategic modeling services to support NBCUniversal’s intellectual property enforcement efforts, including protecting the company's rights in copyrighted movies and television content and branded consumer products.



The Sr. Director, Business Analytics & Research will work closely with the Vice President and all other areas of the Creative Content Protection group, including technology, operations, legal, policy, communications, and government affairs groups. S/he will also be responsible for working closely with NBCUniversal research, marketing, finance, and distribution business unit teams in the motion picture, entertainment TV, consumer products, and sports fields, as well as with other content companies, brand owners, large Internet platforms and marketplaces, vendors, and trade organizations worldwide.



This position will interface with senior executives and be expected to display executive presence, tenacity, and resilience in advancing the application of analytics and research to strategy formation and the measurement of consumer engagement with Internet content through the lens of business performance and the effects of both intellectual property infringement and content protection programs.



Responsibilities



+ Oversee and develop a team with skills in analytics, statistics, econometric modeling and consumer research.

+ Identify opportunities to utilize analytics and research to analyze the effectiveness of existing brand and content protection programs, discover hidden insights in existing data sets, and construct new metrics to inform strategy.

+ Build understanding of consumer behavior driving consumption of content though primary and secondary research projects.

+ Create dynamic models to estimate the effect of business decisions and content protection initiatives on overall authorized and unauthorized consumption.

+ Analyze the performance of user-generated content on YouTube, Facebook and other social video platforms and identify innovative analytics to aid in achieving business goals on the platforms.

+ Track release of new studies, papers and reports across the globe on piracy and counterfeit goods, and develop reporting mechanisms to apprise management of new developments.

+ Develop and manage scorecards to track progress of content protection activities. Report out to senior leadership on key metrics and trends.

**Qualifications/Requirements**

Basic Qualifications



+ Minimum 6-8 years of experience managing business analytics and/or research department and/or leading consulting, consumer research projects, strategic initiatives or data modeling.

+ Minimum of 2 years of experience managing or leading a team

+ Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or Master’s degree preferred.Eligibility Requirements

+ Must be willing to work at Universal Studios, Universal City location

+ Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States

+ Experience in interacting and communicating to all levels of management; strong communications skills are essential, especially communicating complex data in simple terms.

+ Experience in the media and entertainment or Internet industries, preferably with directly applicable experience in brand or content protection or social media content management, and/or other intellectual property based businesses.

+ Working knowledge of content piracy ecosystem, including platforms such as peer-to-peer protocols, direct download sites and streaming sites.

+ Working knowledge of online marketplaces selling licensed consumer products

+ Working knowledge of YouTube and Facebook content management systems and datasets.

+ Clear, concise communication skills, both verbal and written, with fluency in PowerPoint presentations, and the ability to simplify complex concepts and metrics for communication to senior executives.

+ Strong influencing and relationship-building skills, and the ability to work with other leaders in business, operations, legal and policy/standards role.

+ Proactive, with strong problem solving and analytical skills. Strong statistical knowledge, proficiency with a statistical analysis tool such as R preferred. Strong SQL skills and experience with Hive a plus.

+ Highly motivated and effective self-starter with strong track record of industry leadership, influence, and successful project execution.
