**Job Summary**

The Transportation Planning group of AECOM is actively seeking an experienced, enthusiastic engineer for the Ottawa, ON office. The appropriately qualified candidate will be involved in many aspects of transportation engineering including traffic safety, transportation planning and traffic engineering/modelling for municipal and provincial clients.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

+ Manages and undertakes transportation planning and traffic engineering studies

+ Leads traffic impact assessments, as well as site plan reviews

+ Proactively leads business development efforts by identifying, capturing and qualifying opportunities

+ Works in a team environment and mentors other department staff

+ Establishes and maintains good working relationships and communication with clients, department managers, internal and external leads

+ Coordinates stakeholder consultation activities on transportation projects

+ Prepares proposals and reports related to transportation planning and traffic engineering

+ Develops functional design of roads/active transportation facilities

+ Uses software packages including Synchro SimTraffic, Sidra, VISSIM and MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) for analysis, evaluation, reporting and preparing presentations to AECOM and client standards

+ Documents the results of work in tabular and report formats such that the results can be clearly understood by traffic engineers and by members of the public

+ Undertakes/manages field work such as site investigation, traffic data collection and inventory of signs and pavement markings

+ Performs calculations and analyses and reviews work by others

+ Contributes to construction drawings such as traffic management and detour plans using traffic engineering principles and Ontario Traffic Manuals (or other relevant reference material)

+ Assists technical staff with additional duties as assigned

**Minimum Requirements**

+ Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or civil engineering technology

+ 5+ years of experience in traffic engineering

+ Registration with PEO is required (or eligibility for registration)

+ Intersection analysis, safety analysis, and management of traffic engineering and multi-disciplinary assignments

+ Work experience and knowledge of provincial and municipal transportation planning and engineering principles, policies, guidelines, and applications such as MTO Geometric Design Standards, Ontario Traffic Manuals and ITE Traffic Engineering Handbook

+ Understanding and experience with the Municipal Class EA process

+ Must possess a valid driver’s license

+ Must have clear communication skills, oral and written

**Preferred Qualifications**

+ Master’s degree or other further specialty education/training in transportation engineering and/or project management would be an asset

+ Bilingual language skills are helpful
