California State University, Northridge, Department of Cinema and Television Arts has an open faculty position for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in the area of Entertainment Media Management. We seek a skilled entertainment media professional with successful college level teaching experience for a growing Entertainment Media Management Option. Candidates should be active in their field, with a strong record of professional achievement. Candidates should also have an expansive and deep knowledge and proficiency in the areas of program development or entertainment media law and regulations preferred.

Responsibilities: Teaching intermediate and advanced courses in media and entertainment industry management, media regulations, audience research, media, sales/marketing, media programming, program development, talent management and/or broadcast history. Conduct research and/or professional activity in the field of media and entertainment management. Advise students and participate in faculty governance. For purposes of reappointment, tenure, and promotion, emphasis will be placed on teaching effectiveness, scholarly and/or professional achievement, and service to the University and community. Faculty are expected to contribute professionally at the state and national levels. Teaching may be assigned in a second area of expertise appropriate to the qualifications of the candidate, including courses in the General Education Curriculum.

Requirements

 • Terminal degree from an accredited institution in related field preferred. A candidate with a non-terminal degree, but with significant, high-level professional achievement may be considered for the position.

 • Demonstrated successful teaching experience in media and/or entertainment industry management (programming, audience research, station/network operations, program development, sales and/or talent management) at the university or college level preferred.

 • Demonstrated evidence of substantial professional experience in media and/or entertainment industry management (program development, or entertainment media law and regulations preferred.) preferred.

 • Interest in developing interdisciplinary programs with other units in the University.

 • Willingness to participate in the university’s commitment to obtaining research and creative activity support from federal, state, corporate, and foundation sponsored programs desired.

 • Demonstrated ability to work with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community

At time of appointment, the successful candidate, if not a U.S. citizen, must have authorization from United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) to work in the United States.
