ASSISTANT PROFESSOR OF CINEMA & TELEVISION ARTS

The School of Communications at Elon University invites applications for an assistant or associate professor of cinema and television arts with a professional emphasis in media management, a demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion, and experience using analytics to inform decision making. Effective start date is August 2020.

We seek an outstanding teacher with professional experience to join our school’s 67 full-time teacher-scholar-mentors. Candidates must have previous teaching experience, a terminal degree and professional experience in media management using analytics to inform decision making and the creation and distribution of media content. Candidates seeking a tenure track appointment must have a terminal degree and a track record of peer-reviewed scholarship. The tenure-track process involves six years at rank and can be shortened by up to two years for those with full-time university teaching experience.

Teaching assignments could include courses in the cinema and television arts major, such as Producing for the Screen, Entertainment Media, Film and Television Aesthetics, and Television Production; and school core courses, such as Communications in a Global Age and Great Ideas: Issues and Research. Other elective courses can be taught and developed along with opportunities for mentoring Cinema and Television Arts BFA thesis projects. Depending on the candidate's qualifications, assigned courses may support the school’s other undergraduate majors, graduate programs, and the university core curriculum.
