The California State University, Northridge, Department of Cinema and Television Arts seeks an Assistant Professor of Editing for our highly regarded Film Production Program.

You would teach intermediate and advanced courses in film and television editing as well as beginning courses in film production. In addition to teaching, the position requires advising duties, including mentoring and advising students working on advanced level production projects, advising students on academic matters, participating in departmental activities such as portfolio review and senior showcases, and interfacing with the entertainment industry and related organizations. Teaching may be assigned in a secondary area of expertise appropriate to your qualifications, including courses in General Education Curriculum. For purposes of reappointment, tenure, and promotion, emphasis will be placed on teaching effectiveness, scholarly and creative achievement, and service to the University and community. Faculty members are expected to contribute professionally at the state and national levels.

Requirements

  • M.F.A. in Cinema-Television or related field from an accredited institution required.
  • Demonstrated successful teaching experience in film/television picture editing and film production at the university or college level required. Experience with Avid hardware and software required.
  • Demonstrated successful experience in leading students in the film/television post-production process, required.
  • Professional experience in film/television picture editing required. Membership in professional picture editing organizations desired.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community required

At time of appointment, the successful candidate, if not a U.S. citizen, must have authorization from the Bureau of Citizenship and Immigration Services to work in the United States.
