Cox Media Group – Orlando, WFTV/WRDQ has an opening for a full-time Associate Producer. 
This position is ideal for competitive individuals looking for a foot in the door in a top 20-market.  These people are serious about growing a news producing career.  Having prior experience producing in a 100+ market is a big plus.
Please note: this opening is not for a specific newscast.  The daypart will be determined, in part, by the candidate’s skill-set.
This position also requires people to embrace constant change in a fast-paced environment, demonstrate a resilient and positive attitude no matter what challenges come up, and quickly make adjustments to their workflows and thought processes, based on the coaching they receive from news managers.
Candidates must be able to think for themselves and solve problems on their own, while also excelling in a team environment.  They are mindful of how they treat their peers and are comfortable working with digital and social news-gathering and news-distributing platforms. 
AP Responsibilities:
  • Competently completes TV newscast scripts while consistently incorporating station research and manager coaching.
  • Stays up to speed on major local stories & national stories relevant to Central Florida without being asked.
  • Masters other newsroom duties that support the line producers and the newscasts.  This can include tasks like coordinating liveshots, and special event coverage like breaking news, elections, storms/hurricanes, etc.
  • Identifies what facts may be missing in local stories and makes calls to get those answers.
  • Participates in relevant newsroom meetings and training seminars.
  • Covers changing dayparts as necessary; nights, overnights, and weekends should all be expected.


Education: Bachelor of Journalism or Communications
Experience: 1-2 years as a writer or newscast producer in a local television station
