Job Summary

The Millsboro office of AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Building Inspector for immediate employment. The appropriately qualified applicant will be able to demonstrate an established career in residential and / or commercial building inspections.

The successful candidate will provide building inspection services to our municipal clients on the Delmarva Peninsula, including the following tasks:

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Reviewing of plans for residential and commercial construction and alterations.

  • Participates in environmental health and safety performance improvement efforts.

  • Helps establish, track and drive improvement in health and safety standards including training, corrective actions, audits and compliance.

  • Perform construction and work site inspections.

  • Plans, implements and/or compiles field investigation and testing programs.

  • Develops and implements project QC programs for field.

  • Recognizes problems and anticipates future requirements.

  • Maintains records and writes reports, as well as provides close communication and interaction with local building officials and clients.

Minimum Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

  • 2+ years technical training in a construction related field

  • Residential and / or commercial building inspection experience.

  • Current and valid certifications from International Code Council (ICC) in commercial construction.

  • Valid Drivers License in MD, DE, PA or NJ.

  • Must be self-motivated, work well under limited supervision, and possess strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Due to the nature of the work, US Citizenship is required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Current and valid certifications from International Code Council (ICC) in residential construction.
