About this Opportunity
As a Category Marketing Manager – Seating, you'll be responsible for leading Marketing within Herman Miller's Seating Business and for owning the development, build, and execution of the category marketing strategy to support the portfolio, product line, and business goals.

  • Lead the development and execution of the category marketing strategy and facilitate ongoing portfolio segmentation, targeting, and positioning work.
  • Lead research to drive insights to identify needs to optimize offers, experiences, and tools.
  • Consult on Herman Miller Portfolio initiatives pertaining to seating lines such as Thrive, Elements, and Herman Miller Goods.
  • Manage the execution of work across the Brand, Editorial, and Digital Teams and external agencies, acting as the nexus and conduit for Seating Business needs.
  • Work with Marketing Specialists to provide ongoing coaching and support within vectors, ensuring two-way accountability, vector-to-category, and category-to-vector.
  • Lead the development of sales and marketing tactics to generate demand from key audiences.
  • Partner with Customer Audience Leads and other business functions to connect Seating knowledge, insight, perspective, and needs into their work and vice versa.
  • Partner with Vector Leads, Market Launch Leads, and Product Management Teams to ensure work alignment and prioritization.
  • Take responsibility for and manage budget allocations.
  • Collaborate and partner with regional teams to achieve engagement, adoption, and scale.
  • Consult on service opportunities, including integrations and enhancements of Live OS.
  • Direct new channel development initiatives to expand Seating distribution.
  • Help drive innovation within business models to maximize business integration, streamline workflows, achieve efficiencies, and grow sales.
  • Lead the management of marketing for product line extensions, additions, and deletions.
  • Manage the coordination, synthesis, and grouping of launches for streamlining, efficiencies, sales experience, and strategy connection.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as requested to achieve business objectives.

You might be just who we're looking for if you have...
  • A Bachelor's degree in Marketing or Business Administration.
  • Seven or more years of professional experience in marketing, product, or brand management roles. Global experience is preferred.
  • Strong strategic and analytical skills.
  • The ability to think strategically and execute tactically. You must also be financially literate and possess well-developed business acumen.
  • A strong understanding of business functions and their roles in bringing products to market.
  • Proven experience in strategic planning, program implementation, and results.
  • A demonstrated ability to manage multiple complex projects in a timely manner in a fast-paced environment with frequently changing priorities.
  • Experience in above the line and below the line marketing. A background in or solid understanding of digital/web-based marketing is essential.
  • The ability to be a proven networker and to lead, inspire, and drive a range of teams and external partnerships forward.
  • Demonstrated written, verbal, and interpersonal skills to communicate information, ideas, procedures, and processes in a logical sequence at a level appropriate to a range of audiences, resulting in effective working relationships.
  • A demonstrated ability to lead, influence, solve problems, and work with all levels in the organization and in a cross-functional environment.
  • A willingness and ability to travel at least 15 percent of the time to achieve business objectives.
  • The ability to perform all essential job functions of the position with or without accommodations.
