ADP is seeking a Chief Architect to significantly contribute to the architectural vision of our Talent Acquisition software products by making strategic design and development decisions that affect our overall technical direction. Technical responsibilities include the design, development, and maintenance of ADP's product line. We are seeking a hands-on engineer experienced in developing microservice based web applications using Java or Node JS with containers for an independent software vendor (ISV.)

Things You'll Do:
  • Participate in the vision to move away from manual, high cost operational tasks and contribute to services that shrink and expand based on demand, self-heal, automatically rollout, blue/green deployments, etc.
  • Participate in design and architecture across large product portfolio
  • Participate in design and hands-on coding
  • Participate in design and implementation of our continuous deployment environment
  • Provide technical leadership to multiple scrum teams across product portfolio
  • Follow best practices (Scrum, Refactoring, code standards, TDD)
  • Determine tradeoffs, estimates, and overall approach to work as an individual contributor
  • Collaborate with Product Management to clarify requirements and designs
Core Technology:
  • Required Technologies: Java, JUnit, Jenkins, (Jenkins Pipeline and/or Job DSL), Microservices/Serverless, AWS/Public Cloud
  • Key Technologies: REST, Containers (Docker), Service Discovery (Consul, Zookeeper, etc) JPA, Angular, JavaScript, Spring, Linux, Node JS
  • Application Servers: Tomcat, Spring Boot, Serverless
  • Tools: Eclipse, Docker, Git
  • Database Experience: SQL, mySQL, Mongo, ElasticSearch, Cassandra, Redis
  • Practical, solid knowledge of shell scripting and at least one higher-level language such as Python, Clojure, Ruby, Groovy, etc.
Qualifications:
  • A minimum of a Bachelor's degree or higher is required
  • 10 to 15+ years of software engineering/development experience, specifically at least 2 years of experience in design and development of Java based web applications
  • Experience with the complete software development lifecycle; experience with agile methodologies (Scrum, XP)
  • Experience with test driven development (TDD), continuous integration
  • Experience with the design and implementation of continuous integration/continuous deployment lifecycle.
  • Empathy for developers, a passion for engineering productivity, and experience delivering scalable distributed systems.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills. Ability to author technical and application design and issue documents, conduct technical and application presentations to technical and non-technical staff
  • Knowledge and/or experience with ATS, Background Checks, and the HR domain a plus
  • Experience collaborating with Senior Technical Staff
