As Lead Data Security Engineer you will join a highly skilled and focused team providing excellent data protection services. We protect sensitive ADP client and company data throughout the data life cycle. Responsibilities include protecting company and client data from exploitation or misuse, leading the design and implementation of data security and privacy policies, identifying weak control areas and engineering  relevant mitigating controls, and mitigating operational risks associated with data in motion and at rest.. Your work will help develop, enhance and drive the vision and effectiveness of the data security program. 


The Lead Data Security Engineer will have a deep understanding of data environments and data movement, including protecting end points, data threat vectors, and relevant mitigating controls. This role has primary responsibility for cloud access security broker engineering in a multi-cloud, hybrid data environment. You will interact with numerous teams across ADP: IT Architecture, Security Engineering, Data Stewards, Project Management, Legal, Data Privacy and IT Operations to develop, enhance and drive the vision and effectiveness of the data security program.

Here is what you can expect on a typical day in the life of a Lead Data Security Engineer at ADP.

  • Collaborate Collaborate and influence multi-disciplinary teams in designing, implementing and operating Cyber security controls. Work collaboratively with product, information technology, application, Privacy, and information security teams to create and drive a future vision for next generation data security across multiple cloud environments and platforms. Provide input and feedback on security architectures, and influence others with your expertise. Your experience with data loss prevention platforms and collaborative approach will help shape ADP’s security policies and standards for use in cloud environments. Provide expertise in information security architectures and systems engineering to other IT and business teams.
  • Design & Process Improvement Interpret and define security and technical requirements from business requirements. Communicate security risks to relevant stakeholders ranging from business leaders to engineers. Produce detailed control designs for next generation data protection capabilities and services. Continually improve program outcomes, address gaps, and reduce risk to ADP's infrastructure, processes, and sensitive data. Organize and coordinate supporting services for testing, deployment of new technical design specifications, and configuration of software suites.
  • Operate Test control designs for effectiveness, and implement continuous improvement processes for data controls.  Automate collection of security control data, and implement processes to improve operating metrics and operational support. Identify and implement new security technologies and best practices into the company’s data processes and environments
  • Security Incident Response Create data control designs that enable the Incident Response team to have rapid visibility to security incidents, identify appropriate response activities and perform post-incident analysis to drive control improvements.
  • Consult Maintain an expert level understanding of emerging data security threats and the capabilities that provide relevant mitigating controls. Be proficient in NIST 800 CSF and 800.53 data controls. Have a working knowledge of the MITRE Att&ck framework and scenarios. Provide consulting services to business units and IT organizations to educate and ensure adherence with ADP's data security standards and best practices. Ensure control compliance, drive control coverage, and define technical policies for data security controls across multiple workloads and environments.
  • Data Security & Compliance Discover and prioritize remediation of weak data loss controls to meet audit, compliance and ADP’s data protection requirements. Ensure global data security initiatives adhere to continually changing privacy and legal compliance requirements. Assess and evaluate end point and data security control effectiveness, and drive towards improved control effectiveness, consistency, and maturity across the organization.




A college degree is great but not required. What is more important is having the skills and experience to do the job. 


TO SUCCEED IN THIS ROLE:  Lead Data Security Engineer

  • Positive Leadership. You have an upbeat, persistent style and the ability to produce creative solutions without fear of rejection. You can manage your time well, prioritize deliverables, and multi-task with the best of them. In addition, you can present your ideas in a clear, professional manner on paper, in-person, and over the phone. With your incredible leadership skills, you are comfortable mentoring and provide guidance and expertise to other associates. You already possess a high degree of integrity, are trustworthy, and can work independently.
  • Proven Winner. With your eight-plus years of experience in cybersecurity roles, including planning, implementing, and running security capabilities, you work well with key collaborators (security partners, technology teams, business units) to help improve or solution designs that adapt to ADP cloud platforms. You possess strong analytical skills and cross-functional knowledge of multiple cybersecurity disciplines. You bring expert knowledge and working experience with, data leakage prevention (DLP), and structured and unstructured data protection (UDP) technologies and approaches.
  • Skilled Technical Expert. You possess a vast background comprised of functional experience working in global hybrid cloud environments, including AWS, Azure, M365, and Google Cloud Platform. You are superb at defining and documenting business processes and controls using “secure by design” approaches. Your background will lend strength based on your experience with Digital Rights Management (DRM), data tagging, and encryption technologies and solutions. Your experience with a major scripting language (PowerShell, Bash, Python, etc.) for systems automation will be an added benefit to this role!  Certifications are nice and help support your deep practical security knowledge (CISSP, GSEC, CISA, CISM, CRISC),
  • Fabulous Soft Skills. You recognize that with the pace that digital transformations drive, one must include the ability to communicate with various audiences that include executive leadership, business leaders, engineers, architects, clients, and associates. You know that it is important to possess great verbal communication skills to convey information to all levels. This includes exceptional written communication skills, documentation, and reporting. The sense-of-urgency, activator attitude you possess makes you a stellar candidate and highly sought after on project teams!

Minimum: $84700
