ADP is hiring a Principal Data Analytics Engineer to develop and build technical data pipelines and products from a diverse set of data sources for delivering innovative solutions within ADP's Big Data, Reporting and Analytics offering. In this position, the candidate will drive value creation from ADP's big data assets based on the 26+ million workers we pay in the US and 13+ million more worldwide.

In this role, you'll work cross-functionally with Data, Application, Engineering, and Product teams to develop early prototype-stage data products. You'll work analytically to distill a mix of ideas where our data can deliver value. Using Python, Pandas, PySpark, SQL / PLSQL and other tools, you'll write data pipelines and develop beta products to test those hypotheses.

You will:

  • Demonstrate strong leadership skills by solving difficult problems, leading by example, and helping to mentor and develop other members on the team
  • Rapidly iterate on data products early in development with Data Science and Analytics team members
  • Work through complex problems using SQL, PLSQL, Python, PySpark and other data processing tools to deliver data products to end users
  • Build data pipelines in AWS in a cost effective manner
  • Build scalable frameworks, development workflows and strive towards continuous integration & deployment
  • Build technical solutions to develop an analytics platform in cloud to deliver insights from a diverse set of data sources including HR, Payroll, Talent, Benefits, Time, Engagement, Tax and external data sets

You'd be a good fit if:

  • A strong coder and fluent with processing and querying large amounts of data.
  • You have a Bachelor's degree in computer science or CIS, or equivalent experience (advanced degree is a plus)
  • You have experience deploying and running software using cloud-native technologies in AWS and/or GCP
  • You have working experience with AWS databases and data ingestion tools (DMS, GLUE, etc)
  • You are an effective communicator who can break down a complex data analysis and tell a compelling story to stakeholders ranging from management to engineers to sales
  • You are versatile and can easily pick up new programming languages
  • You have experience in data modeling and data prep techniques
  • You have a good understanding of Data Quality and able to clearly document all use cases
  • You have worked in a collaborative development environment using Git, Spark, Python & SQL/PLSQL
  • You have experience working with 3rd party software and libraries, including open source

Nice to have's:

  • Familiarity with cloud-native DevOps automation
  • 3+ years of experience mentoring junior to mid-level data analysts in a rapidly-growing start-up or organization.
  • Industry experience in relevant roles such as data scientist, technical product manager, analytics engineer, or similar

Candidate Profile:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science or related field; Master's degree or MBA a plus
  • 8-10+ years relevant consulting and/or industry and functional experience
  • 5+ years of experience in two or more of the areas of focus: data warehouse development, data quality management, master data management, Oracle, NoSQL and Graph DBs, enrichment and analytics, integrations and service standards, data lakes and data governance (architectural or technical)
  • Strong experience with AWS technologies
  • Excellent analytical ability to understand business issues associated with data management and governance, business processes in terms of data, and related standards, risks and controls, identifying root causes and recommending solutions
  • Strong understanding of the HCM Domain
  • Exposure to Big Data platforms using Apache Hadoop, Cloudera, Hortonworks distributions a plus
  • In-depth knowledge of popular database and data warehouse technologies from Microsoft, Oracle, Amazon and/or Google
  • Experience in building data connectors and APIs
