Job Summary

The Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) and Air Quality Practice of AECOM is actively seeking an experienced, highly talented EHS Project Manager for immediate employment in the Long Beach, CA office. The appropriately qualified applicant will be able to demonstrate an established career in EHS Compliance, client and project management.

The candidate will help clients achieve environmental, health and safety compliance and perform multi-media audits and analysis to determine facility risk and liabilities. Preferred candidate will have a broad consulting experience in EHS compliance in industrial, manufacturing, and government environments. Candidate will directly interact with multi-discipline teams within AECOM, and individuals from various units within the client's organization.

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Perform environmental, health, and safety audits at client facilities, interpret environmental and safety regulations, and provide recommendations and corrective action plans for audit findings

  • Communicate clearly and build relationships with new and existing clients

  • Air Quality: Title V permit application, implementation and revisions; data gathering and validation; annual emissions inventories, and Cal ARP.

  • CUPA/Fire Department: Business plans, UST/AST storage tank management, and industrial/construction storm water and spill prevention management.

  • Sanitation Districts: Industrial wastewater compliance, NOV negotiations, and permit revisions.

  • USEPA/Cal EPA: Hazardous and universal waste management, recyclable materials, SB-14 waste minimization, biennial reports, and TRI Form R reporting. Review of applicable environmental permits and permit conditions.

  • Inspect work sites and review documentation to evaluate environmental, health and safety regulatory compliance.

  • Prepare environmental, health and safety compliance reports and programs and interface with regulatory agencies.

  • Oversee and conduct training for EHS topics.

  • Interface with various agencies with oversight of workplace safety and environmental compliance.

  • Perform environmental, health, and safety training.

  • 14001 management systems: Environmental scorecards, and KPIs. Deploying and maintaining environmental policies, procedures, and programs.

  • Collaborative working relationships with regulatory agencies to address compliance issues. Communicating proposed regulations and ascertaining potential impacts to business operations.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering, Environmental Sciences, Chemistry, Biology, or other relevant discipline.

  • 8+ years of experience working within consulting, manufacturing or governmental agency.

  • Must have experience performing, managing and developing environmental, health and safety compliance programs, monitoring and auditing programs in a variety of industrial and manufacturing settings.

  • Candidate must have high level experience working with federal, state and local environmental and safety rules and regulations.

  • Candidate must be highly motivated with good client communication skills both in written and verbal forms.

  • Candidate must have the ability to climb ladders, carry up to 25 pounds, wear a respirator, and wear appropriate PPE required for work in the field.

  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Project Management and/or EHS Manager experience preferred.

  • 10+ years' experience preferred.
