The infrastructure team is a small team with a big impact! We make sure to have services available and speedy to ensure a great customer experience, as well as improving efficiency and productivity to ensure a great developer experience.

 

Position Summary: 

As part of the team, you'll drive proactive projects to make our systems and engineering lives easier to manage as well as reducing risks. You’ll own, based on your specific experience, things like our deployment tools & processes, CI pipelines, configuration management, performance testing and tuning, security, capacity planning, logging systems, test environments, and technical operations strategy & processes. You’ll also work and coordinate projects with the different engineering teams.

 

In addition, you'll ensure we react to incidents appropriately, whether it’s on internal tools or on our public services:

  • Implementing appropriate monitoring and alerting to shorten the mean time to response and recovery (MTTR)
  • Responding to and resolving issues we encounter
  • Learning from and addressing the root cause(s) in order to avoid similar issues in the future
  • Communicating to key folks during and after the incident informing them of the incident, impact, and resulting plans & actions
  • We're hosted in Amazon Web Services (EC2) & our server stack includes Python, Redis, PostgreSQL, HAProxy. Our CI is on Jenkins, and all our automation is in Python.
  • We have lots of things to do, and we can't do them all at once, so we also want someone who has good judgment on where to best invest their time and is a very good communicator.

 

Requirements

  • You're curious, humble, and able to learn.
  • Good automation skills
  • Good communication & interpersonal skills
  • You care deeply about producing the best, have a high sense of accountability, and love challenges
  • Experienced with configuration management tools (we use Puppet)
  • Experience with AWS
  • Experience with Python
  • Strong background in Linux/Unix Administration

 

Bonus Points

  • Experience with CDNs & load balancers
  • Experienced with monitoring & alerting tools
  • Experience with Jenkins
