HOK is looking for talented individuals to join the CENTRUS team as we begin work on the historic Centre Block Rehabilitation.

 

 

We are looking for the right people to join our core team of landscape architects developing a legacy landscape project over the next 10+ years. This is an amazing opportunity for the right candidate to submerse themselves in challenging, complex project work with ample opportunity for professional growth, and advancement into design or management focused roles on a large multi-disciplinary integrated project team.

Were seeking intermediate and senior level individuals with a passion for developing a complex, iconic built landscape in Canadas National Capital - Ottawa. Preference for landscape architects, but consideration for architects or engineers with a keen sensitivity to site. This is phenomenal opportunity to help shape the vision, design, and implementation of a symbolic landscape that will serve to embody contemporary Canadian values and democracy.

The successful candidate should be a strong advocate for innovative design, quality craftsmanship, sustainability initiatives, art+ interpretation, and who can respond to the context of a high heritage site.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Provides onsite interface and supportive leadership and representation for the successful execution and delivery of scoped works related to and coordinated with Landscape Architectural services.
  • Assists in preparing project presentations with strong graphic design sensibility
  • Responsible for writing guidelines and reports with high quality writing and graphic content
  • Responsible for attending, participating in and/or leading stakeholder sessions, meetings with client and approval agencies.
  • Responsible for developing landscape design detailing, including studies, sketches, working models and mockups.
  • Responsible for high quality construction documentation, with adherence to design intent with a well-developed sense of timelines.
  • Monitors construction administration during the construction phase
  • Fosters and maintains a collaborative and communicative professional working relationship with the Project Leadership Team. Consistently provides complete and timely communication of project information to and from clients and project team.
  • Solves complex project issues by providing team support and assists in solutions to technical problems.
  • Responsible for maintaining client relationships throughout project. Keeps the integrated project team appraised of project progress on regular basis. Initiates and maintains contact with other key project individuals for clarification, coordination and negotiation of critical issues.
  • Communicates with consultants, contractors, sub-consultants and other disciplines to ensure project details are carried out including technical issues and project information at all levels of contract administration.
  • Provides leadership including professional development coaching and mentoring staff.

 

Required Skills
  • Strong knowledge of design, trends, construction methodology, material application, craftsmanship and parametric design detailing.
  • Exceptional communication skills, specifically graphic and writing skills
  • Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD.
  • Proficiency in the Adobe Suite, Rhino, Sketchup, Lumion
  • Proficiency in Enscape or Prospect preferred
  • Proficiency in Drorofus preferred.
  • Ability to work in team environment.
  • Ability to effectively meet deadlines.
Required Experience
  • Masters or Bachelors degree in order of preference: Landscape Architecture, Architecture, or Site Engineering Disciplines.
  • 6 years minimum experience with prior experience in developing complex built projects
  • Current license and registration in your region preferred, if licensure is offered in your region.
  • LEED credential required within 12 months of employment.
