About this Opportunity
As a Materials Manager working at Geiger, you'll lead and direct all aspects of the assigned production location(s) related to material planning, inventory management and accuracy, raw material delivery, and quality. You will be responsible for coordinating with New Product Development to source new materials and make necessary decisions on new product launches. You'll also coordinate daily with the Scheduling and Engineering Teams to ensure customer satisfaction and on-time reliability, as well as maintain the flow of materials to keep manufacturing in operation. You will also work with suppliers to minimize our costs and improve lead times.

  • Actively engage in the leadership of site Environmental, Quality, and Safety teams and projects.
  • Ensure developmental opportunities for employees to achieve a dynamic workforce operating at its fullest potential.
  • Manage and support ongoing business relationships between suppliers and Geiger.
  • Provide data, analyses, and reports (e.g., material availability, inventory accuracy, and supplier quality) for use in executive decision-making.
  • Provide direction to one or more work teams, which may include Material Planning, Inventory Control, Production Control Warehouse Management, Shipping, and Receiving.
  • Review existing materials and processes and identify areas for improvement. You'll also participate in, and may lead, Herman Miller Performance System (HMPS) continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as requested to achieve business objectives.

You might be just who we're looking for if you have...
  • A Bachelor's degree in Business Management or equivalent experience.
  • Five to eight years of experience in manufacturing, four of which must be with materials.
  • Two years of combined experience as a Work Team Leader in Production Scheduling, Inventory Control, Production, or Purchasing.
  • The ability to work in an environment with rapidly changing priorities under challenging conditions.
  • A willingness to be held accountable for resolving problems and meeting objectives in a timely manner.
  • The ability to effectively use the office automation, communication, software, and tools used in the Geiger office environment.
  • The ability to think strategically and execute tactically.
  • Expert communication skills, including verbal, written, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • A high level of customer focus.
  • Financial literacy and business acumen.
  • A CPIM (Certified Production Inventory Management) Certification (preferred).
  • The ability to perform all essential job functions of the position with or without accommodations.
