Cox Media Group – Orlando, WFTV/WRDQ has an opening for a Newscast Producer. 

We’re looking for competitive and experienced individuals who are serious about making news producing a career.  This is a RARE opportunity for a weekday main line producer role that does NOT open often.  Orlando-Daytona Beach-Melbourne is a top-20 market with a lot of major news that regularly makes national headlines.

Our newsroom is looking for people who excel in decision-making and debating the merits of a local news story.  Those same people must also be able to embrace constant change and demonstrate resilience and a positive attitude, no matter what challenges come up.

  • Candidates must learn and execute specific station research and branding consistently, to deliver a dynamic and unfolding newscast that holds viewers and regularly surpasses the market competition.
  • Candidates must also come in with recent and significant experience producing live, wall-to-wall coverage of hard news events and are commanders in the control room.
  • Candidates must also excel in a team environment and support producing teammates, as well as solve problems on their own.  They are also comfortable working on TV, digital, and social media platforms.

Responsibilities:

  • Win ratings with dynamic newscasts, using local content and creative story-telling techniques that meet our hard news brand.
  • Win all breaking news stories as well as the major news-of-day stories in the market.
  • Understand effective and impactful tease writing and promises of value-based coverage.
  • Must be flexible with scheduling and be able to work changing dayparts as necessary; nights, overnights, and weekends are all possible.

Qualifications


  • Education:  Bachelor of Journalism or Communications
  • Experience:  3-5 years producing news in a hard news market
