Our ideal candidate for this role will have a strong foundation in general accounting and also be interested to tackle the complex area of revenue assurance. This role reports to the Revenue Assurance Manager and will have frequent interaction with the leadership of the Controller organization, the CFO, and the Financial Planning & Analysis team. We have the opportunity, you have the talent. It’s an incredibly exciting time to join our Global Finance team!

 

Specific Responsibilities

  • Analysis and Reporting: Analyze and research revenue usage streams to ensure all transactions are correctly billed. Analyze revenue streams to detect and correct revenue leakage accounting matters, providing accurate and comprehensive documentation of issues identified and resolutions reached. Identify, investigate and resolve unusual, inaccurate, and unexpected revenue fluctuations.
  • Month-end: Participate in month-end billing and revenue accounting processes to ensure effective operational controls are in place, and revenue streams are reconciled.
  • Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve broad, cross-functional business processes, and related systems. Assist implementation efforts as required.
  • System and Data Analysis: Work closely with Financial Systems team and R&D to research and investigate revenue reconciliation issues as data moves between systems. Troubleshoot data feeds and provide recommendations for short-term and long-term system and process improvement.
  • Audit Support: Work closely with internal audit to ensure periodic system testing is targeted in the right areas.
  • SOX and Controls: Review documentation of revenue accounting and billing processes for Sarbanes-Oxley purposes. Provide suggestions to strengthen key controls.
  • Be aware of, and comply with, all corporate policies.

 

Education, Experience & Training required

  • BA/BS in Accounting or related discipline.
  • 5+ years total accounting, finance, or related experience.
  • CPA or related certification preferred.
  • Advanced Excel and Access skills required, with interest and aptitude to work with large amounts of data.
  • Well-developed problem-solving and analytical skills. Able to discern alternatives and make objective recommendations, understand how to effectively work with other business groups to accomplish goals.
  • Experience with Tier 1 ERP (e.g. Oracle, SAP, Peoplesoft, etc.) preferred, but not required.
  • Interest and aptitude to improve accounting systems and business processes.
  • Project management ability. Able to act as primary owner of individual projects, analyses or processes. Ability to work cross-functionally outside immediate work group. Natural curiosity regarding how to make improvements.
  • Ability to remain flexible in a fast paced and rapidly changing environment.
  • Ability to pass a background check.

 

Job Specific Specialized Knowledge & Skills

  • Preferred work experience in the software or services industry.
  • Strong working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), including experience in accounting research.
  • Experience participating in a monthly accounting system close process.
  • Ability to have fun in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated performance of accounting research, conducting investigations, and/or studies sufficient to recommend change in accounting policies, practices, and procedures.
  • Great oral and written communication skills to interact with upper levels of management.
  • Willing to work extended hours during peak periods.
  • Prior experience working with auditors and Sarbanes-Oxley regulations is a plus.
