About this Opportunity
As a Senior Contract Specialist, you'll be responsible for reviewing, drafting, and negotiating a variety of commercial terms and conditions as related to contracts and other documents within the overall sales process. Additionally, you will help (with the assistance of the Legal Department) to design, develop, and modify forms, procedures, techniques, databases, and processes needed for reviewing and drafting standard terms and tracking matters and trends.

  • Collaborate with internal and external business partners to structure and execute contractual agreements.
  • Create, maintain, and improve the processes and internal tools used by the Contract Management Team.
  • Develop and maintain contract templates and related training and policy materials.
  • Draft, revise, review, and negotiate the commercial aspects of various legal documents, including a wide variety of contracts such as RFPs, sales and service agreements, and other such contractually-related agreements.
  • Proactively design, develop, and modify the commercial aspects of forms, procedures, techniques, databases, and processes for reviewing and drafting standard contracts and for tracking matters and trends.
  • Provide advice and assistance to other company departments regarding the interpretation of the commercial aspects of contracts, proposed transactions, risk analysis, and policies.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as requested to achieve business objectives.

You might be just who we're looking for if you have...
  • A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and two years of successful contracts work with a manufacturing company, or a Paralegal certification with three years of successful contracts work with a manufacturing company.
  • A solid understanding of Contract Law and Uniform Commercial Code.
  • A thorough knowledge of antitrust legislation, including Robinson Patman and the Sherman-Clayton Antitrust Act.
  • A great attention to detail with a demonstrated ability to spot key legal issues from a variety of domain areas.
  • Competency in conducting legal research within a scope of responsibility.
  • A demonstrated high level of written, verbal, and interpersonal skills to communicate and present information, ideas, procedures, and processes in a logical sequence and at a level appropriate to the audience, resulting in effective working relationships.
  • Excellent contract analysis, drafting, and negotiation skills.
  • Strong organization and execution skills with high impact execution.
  • The ability to influence without explicit authority, using positive influence to build consensus and credibility.
  • Proven time management skills and the ability to work well under shifting conditions with competing priorities.
  • Demonstrated agility in generating solutions to new and ambiguous situations.
  • A proven ability to manage conflict and strong problem-solving abilities.
  • A strong orientation toward process and continuous improvement.
  • A demonstrated ability to effectively use the office automation, communication, software, and tools currently used in the Herman Miller office environment.
  • The ability to perform all essential job functions of the position with or without accommodation.
