About this Opportunity
As a Portfolio Lead, you'll serve as the owner of a specified portfolio of products. You will assist in the development and execution of market-facing plans to support the product portfolio strategy from a product management, regional market share, and financial performance standpoint. You'll also serve as a critical position within Product Management, which involves leading cross-functional teams in support of achieving the portfolio strategy.

  • Assist in developing a portfolio strategy that encompasses the product offering, channel promotions and incentives, financial performance metrics, and market share growth necessary to support the overall category strategy and corporate performance goals.
  • Interact with customers, dealers, and Field Sales members on a frequent basis to gather facts necessary to manage the product portfolio and to communicate key information back to this group that will drive sales and heighten the brand perception.
  • Lead cross-functional teams to successfully introduce, communicate, track, and manage all elements of a product portfolio plan.
  • Provide specific product line leadership as needed in addition to portions of the portfolio overview.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as requested to achieve business objectives.
  • Provide assistance in all marketing, sales, budget, and business development activities related to the product portfolio strategy. You will work closely with the Sales, Contracts, Research & Development, Engineering, Brand Marketing, Training, Manufacturing, and Finance Teams. You'll also interpret regional market share performance and collaborate with appropriate Sales Leads to implement region-specific sales action plans.

You might be just who we're looking for if you have...
  • A Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Interior Design, or a related field. An MBA is strongly preferred.
  • Eight to ten years of product management, research development, or product marketing experience. Contract furniture or B2B marketing experience is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated strong manufacturing, finance, and business acumen.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and leadership skills with all functional areas and levels within a company (desired).
  • A strong sense of the customer and sales process with demonstrated customer and field sales interaction.
  • Supervisory, cross-functional leadership and project management skills and experience (preferred).
  • A record of ongoing professional development.
  • The ability to travel approximately 25 percent of the time.
  • The ability to effectively use the office automation, communication, software, and tools used in the Herman Miller office environment.
  • The ability to perform all essential job functions of the position with or without accommodations.
