Purpose and Objectives

SAPs New Ventures and Technology unit is a strategic development entity within SAP, combining software engineering excellence with thought leadership and entrepreneurial spirit. We pioneer game-changing solutions in close collaboration with startups, customers & partners in industry and research as well as with other SAP units. To ensure a successful go-to-market, we follow an end-to-end responsibility approach. By exploring unconventional ideas and developing inspiring proofs of concepts, we push the state-of-the-art in computer science and its applied fields to provide SAP with foresight into future trends.


As a Presales Solution Expert in our Conversational AI team, you identify, understand, and define customer needs to develop, and maintain product demonstrations and materials to close business and increase revenue. Your primary goal during an active sales cycle is to gain acceptance from our customers that our SAP Conversational AI solution available at solves the customer’s business problems and is the right choice over competitive offerings. Your technical expertise, development skills, and understanding of the platform and related SAP products allow you to rapidly develop convincing proof-of-concept (POC) implementations that address the customer’s key requirements. Being considered one of the most knowledgeable Presales persons, you can serve as technical advisor to support RFx creation, sales presentations, and product demonstrations.


Expectations and Tasks

Deal Execution Tasks

  • Compose and deliver superior sales presentations to prospective customer audiences. The presentations must articulate the sales message, differentiate SAP, and leave a strong and positive impression to audiences which can include senior company executives.
  • Prepare and deliver value-based software demonstrations in support of sales cycles, including the conception and implementation of personalized POC solutions using backend programming languages like Node.js, Python, or Ruby to ensure delivery of simple, appealing, and compelling presentations.
  • Demonstrate deep knowledge of SAP solutions and appropriate industries to maintain credibility with prospective customers. Provide proof points with relevant customer stories.
  • Provide answers to customer / internal SAP team inquiries concerning advanced solution topics.
  • Support RFx completion in support of customer proposals.
  • Collaborate with the sales team to identify whitespace opportunities at accounts.
  • Ability to effectively present to customers “remotely” using virtual technologies (SAP Virtual Studio and Adobe Connect).

Strategic Tasks

  • Guide team in creation of overall theme & competitive differentiation.
  • Execute vigorous dry runs on strategic deals and customer engagements.
  • Effectively transition engagement to implementation partner / Field Services.
  • Proactively share your knowledge with the greater presales community through Solution Hubs or other enterprise social media where collaboration takes place.


Education and Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) and 8+ years or Master's degree (or equivalent) and 6+ years of relevant experience
  • 5+ years of solution specialist (or equivalent customer facing) or software development experience in areas appropriate to the job
  • Proven ability to rapidly implement customer-centric proof-of-concepts using Node.js, Python, Ruby, or other backend programming languages
  • Extensive understanding of REST APIs
  • Expert knowledge/expertise on end to end processes/solution matching
  • Experience in sales and sales processes
  • Excellent English presentation and communication skills


  • Master’s degree (or equivalent) or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related fields
  • Experience with natural language understanding technologies and prior experience with building bots on is a huge plus
