The Department of Arts & Entertainment Enterprise at Drexel University’s Westphal College of Media Arts and Design seeks candidates for two full-time faculty appointments in its Bachelor of Science in Entertainment & Arts Management (EAM) program.  This program, which operates at the intersection of theory and practice, welcomes applicants with a broad range of educational and managerial experiences that span the nonprofit and for-profit sectors. Depending on the successful candidate’s qualifications, the appointment may be either for tenure track at the Assistant Professor level, or a contract position as Assistant Teaching Professor. The successful candidates will teach core EAM courses as well as courses related to their area of expertise. Interested candidates should refer to the EAM curriculum to see where their expertise may be best demonstrated.

Essential Functions

Teaching and Mentoring:

  • Teach a selection of core courses in the major as assigned.
  • Teach other undergraduate and/or graduate courses as assigned.
  • Supervise student internships.
  • Mentor and serve on juries for capstone projects.
  • Participate in program and curriculum assessment and development.
  • Maintain professional connections and connect students to the field.
  • Other teaching and mentoring duties as assigned.

Research, Scholarship and Creative Activity:

  • (For tenure-track candidates) The successful tenure-track candidate will be expected to demonstrate a national reputation for professional expertise including scholarly publication and/or creative work, industry experience, consultancies, board membership, activity in professional associations, and/or conference presentations.
  • The faculty member is required to practice, test and/or disseminate her/his professional expertise through the following methods:
  • Innovative research related to the media and entertainment industry and/or nonprofit arts; or
  • Management theory, entrepreneurship and practice; or
  • Other scholarly and creative activity in the media, arts and/or entertainment fields.
  • (For non-tenure-track candidates) The successful candidate for the Assistant Teaching Professor level will devote more time to teaching and service responsibilities. This candidate will engage in some scholarship and is encouraged to remain active in their area of expertise, but will not be eligible for tenure.

Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience
  • (For non-tenure-track position) Terminal degree in arts management or a related field
  • (for non-tenure-track position) Bachelor’s degree and senior level professional experience or Master’s degree and significant professional management experience in performing arts or media.
  • Management/leadership experience in the candidates field of expertise or in higher education.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum five (5) years management/leadership experience in media, arts or entertainment.
  • Knowledge of current issues and ability to teach courses in theatre management OR media management.
  • College-level teaching experience (full-time, part-time, or guest lecturer).
  • Evidence of research, scholarly or creative activities in the field.
  • Working knowledge and experience in digital technologies, social media, and online learning environments.
