PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES

The Global Corporate Office Network Service team manages the internal corporate office networks for more than 200 locations at SAP. The team is responsible for the end to end delivery of the data network services in SAP’s Internal Corporate Network.

SAP is looking to further strengthen our Office Network support team in the Americas. We are looking for an experienced wireless network engineer with solid knowledge across a variety of network technologies with a focus on Aruba technologies to drive innovation and resolution of complex customer wireless issues. Your primary tasks include the roll out, coordination, deployment and continuous improvement of the global network infrastructure in the Americas region.  Close cooperation with other regional core network teams, the candidate will be required to ensure that the network infrastructure is delivered in accordance with business requirements and global standards.  To achieve these goals, you will provide your experience to avoid and overcome issues and work with second and/or third line support and implementation, including 3rd party resources.  

An optimal candidate will have real world experience in wireless technologies (specifically HP / ARUBA), LAN technologies, and integration with real time technologies including Skype for business.

EXPECTATIONS AND TASKS

  • Work as a part of our Global team to co-ordinate deployment of wireless network services. Monitors overall performance of network(s), perform research and provides recommendations for improving performance, security, service levels and cost reductions. Provides functional direction to lower-level Network Engineers.
  • Coordinates the use of internal support personnel and vendor support to ensure agreed service and security levels are met.
  • When needed, work with the security organization to assess exposure, identify mitigation plans, and ensure compliance with all relevant security configuration standards.
  • Ensure new or changed infrastructure meets global goals and is in operational, move in condition for end customers.
  • Work with varied teams to ensure the highest level of performance for Realtime traffic including VoIP and streaming video.
  • Use automation where possible to reduce time to implement designs and provide self-service to our end users
  • Engage with newly acquired companies to enable deployments in a secure manner.

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Communications Engineering or equivalent working knowledge

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • Expert level experience with HP / Aruba hardware and configuration
  • Strong theoretical and practical knowledge of wired and wireless networking
  • Demonstrated understanding of radio frequencies, electromagnetic interference, and antenna selection
  • Solid understanding of wireless vulnerabilities, WLAN-specific security threats, and software weaknesses, as well as mitigation strategies
  • Hands-on experience in WLAN packet analysis, signal optimization, Power over Ethernet, site survey tools, and wireless connectivity
  • Deep understanding of WLAN technologies, network management, and security, including 802.11 b/g/n/ac standards and industry best practices.
  • Fundamental knowledge of security protocols and authentication (WPA2, AES, EAP-TLS, 802.1x, AAA) Working knowledge of acceleration, firewall, proxy, DNS, DHCP, Network Access Control
  • Ability to work with multiple vendors and coordinate activities to meet project timelines
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently in a fast paced and multi-cultural organization but still contribute to or lead teams. Ability to communicate effectively with different internal teams to complete required activities. Flexible attitude towards working hours to work as part of the global team Ability to participate in on call process and respond to issues and projects when needed, even after normal working hours.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a strong command of the English language. Excellent collaboration and teamwork abilities.  Ability to communicate directly with end users and customers at various levels of technical abilities with professionalism.

Preferred skills

  • Aruba Certified Mobility Professional (ACMP) or equivalent
  • Cisco Routing and Switching or proven equivalent knowledge
  • Experience in both scripting and automation (Python) desired

WORK EXPERIENCE

  • 5-7 years wireless experience in a 24x7 mission critical enterprise network environment architecting, managing, and troubleshooting high density enterprise wireless environments
